Typical materials and construction
Body material: Stainless steel 304 (SS304) or 316L (SS316L).
Use SS316L when chloride exposure, aggressive detergents, or higher corrosion resistance is expected.
Seals/gaskets: PTFE, EPDM, or FKM compatible with CIP chemicals and temperature.
Surface finish: Electro-polished or mechanically polished internal surfaces.
Performance characteristics to specify
- Connection size and thread type: 1/2", 3/4", 1", 1 1/2" BSP/NPT or hygienic Tri-Clamp (sanitary clamp). Match to existing piping.
- Operating pressure range: spray pattern and jet reach depend on pressure. Provide min and max (for example, many static spray balls operate well between 0.5 and 3 bar; rotary heads often require higher flows and specific conditions). If you need precise numbers, request manufacturer curves.
- Spray angle/coverage: degrees of cone or hemisphere coverage, or declared percent of interior surface coverage.
- Temperature rating: compatible with hot CIP (e.g., up to 90–95 °C) and typical caustic/acid cycles.
